Best Breweries on Oregon's Southern Coast

A delicious brew, a rich and satisfying lunch, live music, and a game of shuffleboard. It’s all waiting for you as a well-deserved treat in and around Coos Bay, Oregon. Here are some of the best breweries on Oregon’s southern coast to visit and explore. Properly sample the wares, and please designate a driver for your beer tasting road trip.

Coos Bay

7 Devils Brewing Company: This is a local favorite. The craft brewery was opened in Coos Bay in 2013 by two entrepreneurs with backgrounds in art, marine biology, and local politics. There are two locations. The Waterfront Ale House at 1240 N. Bayshore Dr. Coos Bay and the Brewery & Tap Room at 247 S. 2nd St. Coos Bay. Beer on tap is served alongside seafood caught by local anglers. Live music and art exhibits contribute to the vibe. The beer is brewed with water, barley, hops, and yeast. The brewery’s signature beers are Northwest-style ales with American-grown ingredients. And the food is delicious, often made with local ingredients.

Beer Tasting Road Trip South

Arch Rock Brewing Company: About 80 miles south of Coos Bay lies Arch Rock Brewing Company. Did somebody say road trip? It is worth the trip! The tasting room in Gold Beach is open Tuesday-Friday from 11:00am-6:00pm and on Saturday from 11:00am-5:00pm. Award winning selections include the Gold Beach Lager and the Arch Rock Porter.

Chetco Brewing Company: Hey, it isn’t over yet. But you better have a designated driver, these beers pack a punch. After tasting the fine selections in Gold Beach, get back on the road. Located just over 27 miles to the south of Gold Beach in Brookings is another fine brewery and tap room waiting for you and your crew (and there’s a food truck offering vittles on several days). There are 20 taps flowing, free games (pool, shuffleboard, cornhole), a free charging station for electric vehicles, and live music. Try the award-winning Block and Tackle Imperial Stout.

Misty Mountain Brewing & Tap Haus: Don’t leave Brookings just yet. It’s time to head over to the Misty Mountain Brewing & Tap Haus. They’re just around the corner from Chetco Brewing Company. You can make it on foot if necessary. The Tap Haus is open Wednesday-Sunday from 2:00pm-10:00pm. Try the Rivendale Saison, a “Belgian style farmhouse ale with locally grown blueberries”.

Beer Tasting Road Trip North

Yachats Brewing + Farmstore: Another day, another dollar, another weekend to wander farther…where will you go? Load the car with road trip snacks and drive north to Yachats, Oregon. It’s a short 74+ mile trip from Coos Bay. Here you will find the delightful Yachats Brewing + Farmstore. It was chosen as a TripAdvisor’s Travelers Choice for good reason. There are 30 taps, which include 15-20 beers from Yachats Brewing and a hearty seasonal menu of food (including a brisket sandwich and brew fondue). Beer offerings include a Hobbit Trail (winter warmer ale) and a Thors Well (NW IPA).
